IT Works is built on a simple belief: great outcomes come from investing in people, technology and continual improvement, in that order.
IT Works started in 2008 with a conviction that hasn’t changed: New Zealand organisations deserve better than reactive, break-fix IT. Businesses run on their technology now, which means they deserve a partner who treats that responsibility as a craft, not a queue of tickets.
Everything about how we’ve built this company follows from three investments we make continuously: in our people, in the way we work, and in the trust our clients place in us. None of them is ever finished. That’s rather the point.
Technology changes constantly. We think our clients deserve a team that changes with it, so training, professional development, industry certifications and hands-on experience aren’t perks here, they’re the job. Someone at IT Works is always learning something new, and our clients feel the benefit of it within weeks.
Just as deliberately, we’ve built a workplace where talented people do their best work and stay. Our turnover is low, and that shows up in something clients mention often: you deal with the same people year after year. They know your systems, your quirks and your goals, and relationships like that compound in value the way no contract can.
Leadership
Liam founded IT Works in 2008 and has never stepped back from the work: he’s in client strategy sessions every week, setting direction and staying accountable.
Liam Brady
Director & OwnerLiam has spent the last 18 years building, running and growing a business the old-fashioned way, through trust, hard work and genuine relationships.
Before founding IT Works in 2008, he spent years on the tools and in the field, from field engineering to ICT support and infrastructure design, then managing IT for a corporate of around 150 users. That grounding still shows. He understands the day to day realities his clients live with, because he has done the work himself.
His leadership style is grounded and practical. He believes trust is earned through consistency, showing up, being honest when things are hard, and doing what you say you will do. That approach has shaped long-standing relationships with clients, partners and staff, many of whom he has worked alongside for years.
Running a business for nearly two decades has taught him that success is not just measured in growth or revenue. It is measured in resilience, reputation, and the ability to adapt while staying true to your values.
What Liam brings
Liam cares deeply about building a sustainable business, making thoughtful decisions and keeping people at the centre of everything.
He is still genuinely energised by the work: solving problems, helping organisations make better decisions, and supporting teams to perform at their best.
Good intentions don’t scale. Systems do. We invest in modern tools and automation across everything we deliver, monitoring that spots trouble before you feel it, cybersecurity platforms watching around the clock, Microsoft technologies configured properly, AI tools used where they genuinely help, and documentation and service management systems that mean nothing about your environment lives in one person’s head.
The result is a service that’s consistent, measurable and proactive rather than reactive. Most of our best work is the problem you never heard about, found, fixed and noted while your team got on with their day.
Clients hand us their critical systems and information. We treat that as a responsibility to be earned continuously, through security, governance and compliance that’s independently checked, not self-declared.
We hold SMB1001:2025 Level 3 Gold certification, we’re a Microsoft Solutions Partner for Modern Work, and our SOC 2 Type 2 audit is underway, a deliberate, ongoing journey rather than a plaque on the wall.
We don’t measure success in products sold or short-term revenue. We measure it in relationships that last, working alongside business owners, executives and leadership teams to make better technology decisions, reduce risk and support growth that’s sustainable rather than spectacular.
That’s a deliberately unhurried way to run a technology company, and it suits the organisations we serve: New Zealand businesses that think in years, not quarters. Some of our clients have been with us since the beginning. We intend to keep earning that.
