Cookie Policy

How this website uses cookies, what each one does, and the choices you have.

1. The short version

We use a small number of cookies to keep this website secure, to remember the choices you make, and to understand which pages people find useful. We do not sell or trade information collected through this site, we do not use advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.

Last reviewed 30 July 2026.

2. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. They let a site remember things between pages and visits, such as a preference you have set or a message you have already dismissed. Similar technologies, including scripts and web beacons, do much the same job. Almost every website uses them.

3. What information cookies collect here
  • The type of device, browser and operating system you are using.
  • Your IP address and broad location, such as the city or country you are in.
  • Which pages you visit, how long you spend on them, and how you arrived.
  • The cookie choices you have made.

On its own this information does not usually identify you, but under the Privacy Act 2020 it can still count as personal information, so we treat it that way.

4. The cookies we use

Strictly necessary. These protect the site against automated and malicious traffic and help pages load reliably. They are set by our hosting and security providers so the site can run safely, which means they are always on.

Preferences. These remember choices you have made, including your cookie choices, so the site does not ask you the same question on every page.

Analytics. These tell us how the site is used in aggregate: which pages are visited, how people arrive, and where they lose interest. That shows us which information is genuinely useful and where the site could be clearer. They load only if you accept them, and the site works perfectly well if you do not.

5. What we do not do
  • We do not sell, rent or trade any information collected through this website.
  • We do not use advertising, remarketing or retargeting cookies.
  • We do not build profiles of individuals from your browsing.
  • We do not combine analytics information with anything else to identify you.

Most New Zealand business websites do use advertising and social media tracking cookies. We have chosen not to.

6. Third parties we rely on

Two providers set cookies on this site in the course of doing their job.

  • Cloudflare, which protects the site against automated and malicious traffic.
  • Google Analytics, which we use to measure how the site is used. Google processes that data on its own terms, set out at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

This site is not linked to any Google advertising product, and we do not share analytics information with anyone for their own marketing.

7. How long cookies last

Security and preference cookies generally last for your visit or up to a year. Analytics cookies can last up to two years unless you clear them sooner. You can delete any of them at any time through your browser.

8. Your choices

You can change your cookie choices at any time using the cookie preferences option on this site. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and most browsers let you do this for individual sites. Blocking the strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site working as expected.

New Zealand law does not require a cookie banner. We use one because asking is better than assuming.

9. Cookies currently in use

The list below is generated from the cookies actually present on this site, so it stays accurate as things change.

10. Changes to this policy

We review this policy whenever the cookies we use change, and update the date shown at the top.

11. Contact
